neighbor makers
conversation tables for creative neighbor making
Making neighbors is a creative and iterative process.
It involves forging new connections with people both strange and familiar, and leveraging those connections to create places where we can live better together. Our Neighbor Maker conversation tables, constructed out of plywood and chalkboard paint, help people to practice the art of Neighbor Making in a supportive and fun social setting. In four different sizes that allow two, three, four, six (or more) people to participate, the tables hold people together in close proximity while requiring physical cooperation and contact. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced level Neighbor Maker activity cards invite participants to practice different neighbor-making skills: story-telling, collaborative imagining, group problem solving, and compromise.
Neighbor Makers have been featured at gatherings as large the 2011 Minnesota State Fair and as small as the Southeast Como Improvement Association’s 9th Annual Cookout. To inquire about creating, purchasing, or borrowing Neighbor Maker tables, just say hello!
